Directorate of Government Examination would be conducting the examinations for the students of Plus two in Tamil Nadu has commenced today and will be held till March 19. All preparations to conduct the public examinations in which a total of 8.9 lacs girls and boys will be tested have been made by Directorate of School Education. This year’s examinations see 4,01,101 girls and 4,60,006 boys from 7082 higher secondary schools will be sitting for the examinations. There 2 transgenders as well, bringing up the total to 8,87,992 candidates. It has been pointed out that keeping the interests of the students, 150 new exam centres have been created additionally this year. Tamilnadu school education Minister Sengottaiyan wishes all the candidates who are appearing for these examinations and made a special notice that 40 students who are in prison are also allowed to write their examinations today.

4000 flash squads have been formed to ensure that the students don't engage in any malpractice. A majority of the exam centres have closed circuit cameras placed in them. At least 2 policemen have been deployed at per centre. A 15-minute period is allowed for the candidates to go through the question papers thoroughly before the official examination time starts. This practice started last year and will be resumed this year as well. Some changes in the papers have been made this year for which the details have been sent by the Exam Board to all schools by the Board. Along with that, the rules and regulations to be followed by the teachers and the candidates have also been released. According to these, the officials at the exam halls have to inform the candidates about the number of pages in the answer sheets for that day’s examination and must ask the students to tell if all pages are there in the set given to them.
This will be done before the start of the exam. Students appearing for the exams have to check if all their personal details provided on the top sheet are correct. Moreover, the candidates must check and ensure, before the examination starts, that there no bit papers in their seats. They must not write their name or exam number anywhere on the answer sheets. The Board has also suggested that the members of the flash squad doing their surprise checks at different exam centres must not behave in a way that scares the candidates.
The TN Board has appealed to all students to write the exams without any tension or fear.
Chief Minister Edapadi Palanisami had started last year a dedicated toll-free number 14417 to find solutions to any query associated with the public examinations. 4 teachers have been specially set on duty to answer any doubts the candidates may have. They will operate in shifts and the phone service will be open 24 hours for which a separate room has been given within the Directorate of School Education office in Nungambakkam.
